The Types of Phones Essay Example for Free
The Types of Phones Essay The telephone is one of the best and most effective ways to communicate with people who are far away from you. It is a common household device used to transmit and receive sound by sending electronic signals through a network. The invention of the telephone basically revolutionized the mode of communication among people from different places in the world as it basically overshadowed the earlier ways of communicating such as snail mail. à à à à à à à à à à à However, the vast improvement of technology over the past decade or so gave rise to new types of phones that are being used by people in most parts of the world. These include the car phone and the mobile phone, which can be further classified into analog phones and digital phones. The introduction of the car phone is possibly one of the first significant developments in phone history. Basically, it provided convenience to people who are not at home most of the time and are unable to answer calls from the telephone. However, the boom of mobile phones basically made the car phone obsolete as the latter proved to be more effective and accessible when communicating with other people. Like the telephone, a mobile phone basically can also make and receive calls. It can be classified into two types, namely the analog phone and the digital phone. à The analog phone was the original type of mobile phone. Its size is relatively larger compared to its digital counterpart and its sound, image, and data transmission is done through a continuous signal flow which varies in phase and amplitude, among others. The disadvantage of an analog phone is that is slower in transmitting signals than the digital phone. However, it is more efficient than its digital counterpart when it used in other countries. à On the other hand, digital mobile phones transmit sound, images, and other types of data through a service provider that receives these data and retransmits it to another mobile phone. In addition, digital phones can also send instant messages through a system called Short Messaging Service (SMS) which is now commonly known as text messaging. Moreover, due to the rise of technology, certain digital phones also enable users to access the internet, take pictures, send email, shoot videos, and listen to music, among others. Some digital phones also have the capability to send images and other information through a wireless feature called ââ¬Å"Bluetoothâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Infraredâ⬠provided that the recipient also has these features. Furthermore, unlike analog phones, the digital phone transmission data faster to other mobile phones as there are usually multiple network providers. Using digital phones, SMS messages can be sent in a matter of seconds. However, a digital phone is not suitable for use especially when traveling to other countries since the network or service provider may not be compatible with the phone or may not be available in the area. Today, while the standard telephone still remains as a standard and necessary device in any home, the continuous surge of technology has made mobile phones almost a necessity than a luxury for almost everyone in the world.

Altruism: Our Desire to Help Others Essay -- Psychology
Over the endless cycles of generations, human life has lived up to its fundamental purpose of survival. Not only have we survived as a species, but we have evolved into the most complicated species on earth. Creatures riddled with mystery, emotion, morality; we have outdone ourselves in overcoming our basic reset function of survival. We originated in the mindset of survive and reproduce only to morph into a race rooted in emotion and intricate thought. Darwinââ¬â¢s theory, survival of the fittest, calculates that humans basic goal and reason of life is to survive, and reproduce; to have only ones self in mind. But why then, if natural selection filters us down to survival of the fittest, might one creature stick its neck out for another? Regardless of Darwinââ¬â¢s theory, we have evolved into a species in which our fundamentals are ââ¬Ëgoodââ¬â¢ in nature; significantly outweighing our instinct of selfish survival. Over the years, science has been able to put the human selfish instinct to the test, and divulge the truth on why we help others. A method of selflessness called altruism is the belief in complete lack of selfishness in exchange for genuine concern for the well being of others. One of the most famous and haunting stories of a person engulfing themselves in this way of life is George Price. Throughout his life, George Price was a fluctuating and ever changing scientist. Accepted to Harvard and the University of Chicago, he eventually obtained a doctorate degree in chemistry. Price worked on the Manhattan project, a program during World War I focusing on building an atomic bomb. He later went on to work in various fields such as computer science, psychology, politics, and eventually moved to London where he discovered his love for e... ... Web. 22 May 2012. James Marshall attended Bristol College and is currently teaching at Sheffield College. His quote further describes the Price Equation and its affiliation with genes themselves. Weintraub, Stanley. Silent Night: The Story of the WWI Christmas Truce. New York: The Free Press, 2001. Print. Stanley Weintraub is a professor, historian, and biographer. He spent many months in Korea, during the Korean War with first hand experience on the hardships of war. He began writing after the bombing of Pear Harbor. His telling of the events of the Christmas Truce on the western front is both enlightening and accurate. The way he phrases things causes a realization that this moment was fleeting. After all, it was in the middle of a war.

Geowalk of Downtown Chattanooga essays
Geowalk of Downtown Chattanooga essays Cultural geography of individual cities contributes greatly to the diversity of a culture. Cultural geography is considered a wide-ranging and comprehensive field. Artifacts of our culture constantly surround us every day. The six major parts of cultural geography are the following: cultural diffusion, cultural landscapes, cultural environments, cultural perception, culture regions, and culture hearths The geowalk begins at the entrance to the Tennessee Aquarium. Now walk south on Broad Street until you reach Fifth Street. Then turn east toward Market Street. Finally turn north, back to the starting point at the Aquarium. As I walked around the downtown area, I noticed the various types of cultural geography present. I will focus on five of the six major areas of cultural environment (ecology), culture regions, and cultural perception. The first type of geography I came into contact with was cultural landscape. The definition of cultural landscapes is the forms and artifacts sequentially placed on the physical landscape by the activities of various human occupants. This means that the people of particular cultures have transformed their living areas into communities with buildings, and roads, etc. An example of the cultural landscapes is the building around the downtown area. The Aquarium and Bijou are excellent examples of the way two buildings can differ. The way that newer buildings differ from the historic ones is the types of bricks used to compose the outside or even the particular structure of the building. The Burger King, on the other hand, resembles a train depot from olden days. Another example is the Hamilton County Department of Education building that has brick artwork outside of a "couch". This "couch represents a place where people have added a small effort to transform their surrounding ...

Strong Electrolyte Definition and Examples
Strong Electrolyte Definition and Examples A strong electrolyte is a solute or solution that is an electrolyte that completely dissociates in solution. The solution will contain only ions and no molecules of the electrolyte. Strong electrolytes are good conductors of electricity, but only in aqueous solutions or in molten form. The comparative strength of an electrolyte may be gauged using a galvanic cell. The stronger the electrolyte, the greater the voltage produced. Strong Electrolyte Chemical Equation The dissociation of a strong electrolyte is apparent by its reaction arrow, which only points toward products. In contrast, the reaction arrow of a weak electrolyte points in both directions. The general form of the strong electrolyte equation is: strong electrolyte (aq)à ââ â cation (aq) anion- (aq) Strong Electrolyte Examples Strong acids, strong bases, and ionic salts that are not weak acids or bases are strong electrolytes. Salts much have high solubility in the solvent to act as strong electrolytes.
